Our Featured Customer for August
Sgt. Dan Flowers
When it comes to Ural riders you are unlikely to find anyone more passionate about Ural than one of our very favorite customers, Sgt. Dan.
Dan has been riding his Gear Up for over two years now and has piled up about 15,000 kms, in all types of weather, and on all types of surfaces. While he meticulously maintains his Ural he likes to keep it with a bit of “environment” on it as a badge of honour. He does most of his own maintenance, and is always on the lookout for new and interesting gizmos for his bike, and has fashioned several of his own unique accessories.
In 2008 he participated in the “All Day Adventure Ride” with one other Ural rider and a bunch of dual sport riders, video of which you can find on YouTube.
Dan proudly served his Country in Afganistan, and has been retired from the Army since_____. Now earning his keep as a plumber, Dan is a superior tradesman as I can attest to myself. He is currently helping me finish my “bathroom from hell” renovation…a project which has dragged on for about 6 months now. Please God it will be finished soon, after which Dan has told me, “don’t ever ask for my help again!” In reality you could not find a nicer, more pleasant, or more helpful guy.
Okay Dan, drink it in, from now on I go back to sarcasm!

A Few Tips on How To Keep the “Red Devil” Away From Your Car
Today’s cars are better equipped to fight rust than ever before. The used of galvanized metals, electro-priming, base coat/clear coat paints, and other advancements all add up to body panels lasting longer & longer. However scratches and stone chips, or any other impact damage that expose your car’s untreated exterior surfaces require your immediate attention to repel rust.
- Inspect your vehicle’s painted surfaces regularly, for signs of scratches chips, or breaks, and repair them promptly. You would be surprised how quickly exposed metal will begin to oxidize.
- Get yourself a colour matched touch up stick. Don’t leave it in the glove box! Plus or minus 40C is not kind to them.
Stop by and Mark or I will show you the proper way to do these repairs. Heck, buy us lunch and we might even do them for you!
How About Rustproofing?
Well between Mark, Mike, and I, we have about 85 years of car business experience. It is our opinion that dripless oil spraying DEFINATELY increases the lifespan of a vehicle’s body components. We highly recommend you have this done yearly, regardless of your vehicle’s age.
Timing Belts! Timing Belts! Timing Belts! Timing Belts!
We’ve heard it a million times from our customers, for years & years, “I know it’s 6 years old, but it’s only got 60,000kms”; “I know it’s overdue, but I just had to replace my dryer, so I’ll do it next time.”; “Yeah well my buddy has 160,000kms on his, and he’s never done it”.
Timing belt replacement is probably the most important scheduled maintenance you perform on your car, and at the same time is DEFINATELY the most neglected service. Should a timing belt fail, you are facing, at minumum, rebuilding the engine head, and possibly the entire engine! The reason there is a time, or mileage guideline is simple. A timing belt is made out of material similar to tires. Over time the materials dry out and become brittle. So even though your mileage may be low, your timing belt may still be worn out.
Just ask Mark! He put off replacing his timing belt on his Santa Fe for a couple of weeks. Wouldn’t you know it. It failed! Fortunately he only had to rebuild the engine head, but still at considerable cost. And that’s from a Service Manager! So next time Mark mentions that you are due for your timing belt, he KNOWS what he’s talking about.

Hey Motorcycle & Scooter Owners… Scheduled Service Matters!
Is there anyone among us who has not gone way beyond the recommended time or mileage for servicing their car? I know I have. While it’s not a good idea to let service lapse on your car, it’s REALLY not a good idea when it comes to your scooter, bike, or ATV. They have small engines that operate at very high rpms. They also have small fluid reservoirs. These things considered, it is very important that servicing is performed as required by the manufacturer, and that the correct types and quantities of vital fluids are used. Did you know we actually use a measuring cup and syringe for final drive fluids? Don’t risk damaging your baby!
Have service done on time! Have it done here!
